Slideshare.net: An excellent marketing resource for experts

If you're an expert, I highly recommend you use Slideshare.net, a free service for publishing your PowerPoint presentations and then sharing them with others (Think of it as YouTube for PowerPoint). In some ways it's better than YouTube because it's less cluttered and it's easier to create material for it (i.e. PowerPoint presentations are usually easier to create than videos). It also suits us as speakers, trainers and other information experts, because we can create better-quality presentations than most other people.

Here's a presentation I created recently on Slideshare, based on a conference presentation I made in Sydney in February:

This uses the original PowerPoint slides I used for the presentation. I inserted a new slide at the start and end, then added an audio narration as well. The original presentation was recorded, but I don't have the recording yet. When I do get it, I'll use it instead, because it includes the audience reaction as well.

Even better, within 24 hours of me publishing it, I got an e-mail from Slideshare telling me they had featured my presentation on the home page!

This instantly gave it a higher profile and lots of viewers. It increased my credibility instantly and gives me a new list of people who have "bookmarked" me on Slideshare, so they'll know whenever I publish anything else.

This is exactly how Internet marketing works now. Publish something good, get picked up by somebody with influence, expand your on-line community, and the money will follow.
